The Twins are summoned to a crisis meeting at St Mary’s

Next in the series, the twins behaviour continues to disappoint.

By Penny Morton

Part 1

“I hope you girls are not talking.” The harsh voice of Miss Gregory, headmistress of St Mary’s School, rang out across her study. “If you have any sense, which I seriously doubt, you will remain silent whilst we decide what to do with you.”

“No, Madam, we weren’t talking.” Replied Angela Spencer from the far corner of the room where she and her twin sister, Julie, were standing facing the wall. Angela’s answer wasn’t completely true. They had whispered very quietly to each other in their corner.

As Angela spoke, she and her sister looked over their shoulders at the group of people sitting round Miss Gregory’s desk. They were having what Miss Gregory called a ‘Crisis Meeting’ called to decide what to do with and about the Spencer twins, who were in serious danger of having to leave their university before completing their first term.

Ann Starts to Repay her Debt

The story continues with Ann and a friend both facing punishment, for different reasons.

By Penny Morton

Eighteen-year-old Ann Simpson, a sixth-former at the High School, sighed as she struggled with her advanced maths homework.

“Mrs Wilson, just down the lane, told me that maths was her son John’s best subject,” Said Ann’s mother. “Apparently he helps a number of boys at his school with maths and I am sure he’d help you if we asked.”

“Perhaps he would, Mummy,” Ann replied quietly.

“You might have seen him when you deliver the Wilson’s papers. He’s still at the Grammar School and hopes to do maths at University.”

Trespassers May Be Prosecuted

A little misadventure has big consequences

By Penny Morton

Eighteen-year-old Ann Simpson was completing an English essay and keeping an eye on Tommy the family’s new kitten. It was a warm Saturday afternoon in May and the French doors were open.  A few minutes previously Ann had seen Tommy in the garden. Suddenly aware that he was missing, she anxiously combed the garden looking for him. She would be in trouble if he wasn’t home when her parents returned from shopping.

Ann heard a plaintive mewing coming from down the lane past her house. Following the sound and calling Tommy, she spotted him up a tree in the garden of a house a few doors down. Tommy’s tree was close to the garden wall which Ann began to climb over. A section just beside her became dislodged and a large chunk of brickwork tumbled to the ground.

Miss Manning Puts Her Foot Down

Making up an excuse for tardiness does three girls no good at all.

By Penny Morton

PE on Wednesday afternoon wasn’t the most enjoyable time of the week for the sixth form at St Mary’s and some of the girls had begun to arrive a little later for the class each week. The first lesson on Wednesday afternoon was double Maths Revision with Miss Howarth which was always a rather intense and stressful lesson for the girls.  It was followed by a 15-minute break usually spent in the sixth form common room with time for a welcome cup of tea before going on to PE.  During the break the girls flopped into the comfortable armchairs in the common room and the conversation turned to Miss Howarth’s lesson. This week, very unusually, nobody had been slippered during the lesson and nobody had been given a two-hour Saturday Maths detention.

The Twins Begin Higher Education

The next in the series. More spanking adventures, including when the twins return to their old school and find their headmistress hasn’t forgotten they avoided punishment on their last day there.

By Penny Morton

Part 1

“Can you believe we’re really here at University, Julie?” Angela Spencer asked her twin sister as they sat outside their hostel in the warm autumn sunshine. “You don’t think this is all a dream and we are going to discover we haven’t really left St Mary’s School after all?”

“Yes it’s really true.” Julie replied patting her sister’s arm. “We have definitely left St Mary’s, we are definitely at Uni and what’s more, darling, we’re going to have lots of fun!”

Stephanie joins the sixth form

Continuing the series ‘Girls of St Mary’s

By Penny Morton

Part 1

Stephanie Pickering was very pleased that she seemed to have settled into life at St Mary’s so quickly. She was the only new girl in the sixth form and she was rather apprehensive about going to boarding school for the first time.

Headmistress Miss Gregory had seemed quite nice when Stephanie and her parents had attended for interview. Miss Gregory explained how the double room system with two sixth formers sharing had been abandoned following a slight fall in disciplinary standards. Senior girls would now be in dormitories of between six and eight girls. After offering her a place at St Mary’s, Miss Gregory had given Stephanie a booklet containing the school rules.

The Headmistress is Indisposed

A problem with her arm doesn’t mean this headmistress has to cancel the cane as a sanction

By Penny Morton

Penny Bates and Becky Foster were waiting anxiously in the corridor just outside Miss Gregory’s Office. They were going to be punished, and almost certainly caned. Penny had decided to celebrate passing their maths exam and had persuaded a reluctant Becky to join her for a quick cigarette and a sip of whisky behind the bike sheds. Miss Meredith, the Latin mistress, had caught them both during morning break.

Miss Meredith had confiscated Penny’s cigarettes, her matches and the half empty miniature whisky bottle. She would take the evidence to Miss Gregory. Pleas to be let off, or for Miss Meredith to punish them herself, had fallen on deaf ears. Head girl Vicky Scott told them later that Miss Gregory would see them in her study at the end of afternoon school at 4.00 pm. Miss Frost, the headmistress’s secretary, told them to wait in the corridor saying ominously: “I hope you have got good excuses. I think she’s planning to thrash the pair of you.”

Jane’s Unsuccessful Protest

The ninth instalment of the “Girls of St Mary’s” series

By Penny Morton

When Jane Menzies went up to the room she shared with Zoe Singleton at the beginning of the summer term she had a surprise. A bright new label said ‘Zoe Singleton Prefect’. Jane tapped anxiously on the door and heard Zoe’s voice call out: “Enter.”

“Hi Jane, have you heard the good news?”

“I’m not sure Zoe… er… what do you mean?”

I’ve been appointed a prefect and so I won’t have to share this room with you. You’re going to share with Amanda Patel next door. Miss Gregory phoned me at home last week to give me the good news.”

Crime and Punishment in the Lower Sixth

The eighth instalment of the “Girls of St Mary’s” series

By Penny Morton

“Your knowledge of Latin is seriously deficient girls,” commented Miss Meredith half way through the double Latin lesson. “I get the impression you are not really interested in the classics,” she added.

The Lower Sixth Remedial Latin Group of six girls was trying its best to appear interested as they struggled to translate Virgil’s Georgics Book IV. There was a dancing class with the boys from the neighbouring Grammar School during the evening. Besides trying to understand the points the verbose Mr Virgil was making, the girls were planning what to wear for this special occasion. It was a warm summer afternoon and the girls were currently in their mid-thigh length blue gingham uniform dresses which had short sleeves and open necks.

A Saturday Afternoon at St Mary’s

The seventh instalment of the “Girls of St Mary’s” series

By Penny Morton

Miss Helen Howarth, the new junior maths mistress at St Mary’s school for Girls, was duty mistress on a Saturday afternoon near the end of the summer term. She had a school friend visiting. Jessica Morgan had been Helen’s fag at school and had been punished by her on many occasions. She had had a crush on Helen and had happily carried out chores such as cleaning Helen’s bike, running errands and tidying her study. The girls were still friends but Jessica was still in awe of her former prefect mistress even though she was now in her first year at university. Jessica had arrived wearing her cheerleader uniform, with a dark blue cropped top and a miniskirt with a small silver horseshoe just above the hem of the same colour. Her blonde hair reached down to her bare shoulders.
