Caitlyn’s Move to America

A British girl moves to the USA where she continues her schooling

By Gillian Howard

I was born in May 1995 and enjoyed a very good upbringing in Southern England before, in June 2006, my Father was promoted and we had to move to Florida in USA. I couldn’t believe my luck going to school with almost permanent sunshine.

We arrived and settled in and I was even more pleased to be told that school had already finished for summer and would not restart till the middle of August. I was quickly accepted by the local children and after attending an interview at our local school was informed that I would be starting in the middle school sixth grade but if I proved that I was as advanced as they thought I may be upped a grade to seventh grade with children who would be a year older.

A One and Only School Caning

A girl with an unblemished school record finally loses it

By Gillian Howard

During the years from 1962 to 1968 I attended a co-educational grammar school in North West England. I came from a fairly middle class family and had an older sister by 3 years and a younger brother by 2 years, and we all attended the same school. We have always been a very close family and although there are 3 years between myself and my sister we are very close friends and tell each other everything. She told me when she first slept with her boyfriend and I told her my thoughts and fantasies.

Head Girl’s Pain

She might be Head girl, but she can still be punished.

By Gillian Howard

I am Steve Gilbert and I go a boys grammar school in the North of England where I am in the 6th form. We have just been informed by the Headmaster that, as from September, there will be 15 girls joining our upper sixth class as the girls grammar school is being refurbished. I was also informed that I would be the Head Boy and I was to start school a day earlier so I could meet the girls and also get to know the girl that had been selected to be Head Girl.

Truth or Dare

A game at a party has painful consequences

By Gillian Howard

My name is Joyce Carr and I have just finished my GCE ‘A’ Level exams at our local mixed Grammar school. I have a very close group of 6 friends and a group of 12 others, mainly boys, who always hang around together.

Our school has always used corporal punishment and girls can be caned by the Headmistress over their knickers or the boys by the Deputy Headmaster over their underpants. Jennifer is the only girl in our group to have been caned and, while she said it stung at the time, she was only left with faint stripes on her bottom. After school and at gym the following day you could not see any marks. On the other hand, the boys said that Mr Rowlands really laid it on and the marks could still be seen after a week or more.

Christine Arnold’s Caning

The school dance doesn’t end well

By Gillian Howard

In 1961, Raymond, my twin brother, and myself, Christine Arnold, both passed our 11+ and became the first members of our family to attend Grammar School. Our parents were so proud of us and came to the Open Evening where we were told that we had to use a certain outfitters in the town centre and that full uniform was compulsory at all times. Any deviation would be punished. We were also told that if we were selected for any of the school sports teams then the school would provide all the sports tops in the first 5 years. The school was very proud of its reputation in sports, academically and in the local Town. There were also after school clubs for various things such as Chess, Stargazing and, in the 6th form, there was also a debating society.

Sandra Brady’s Story

A girl falls foul of some tough school regulations

By Gillian Howard

My name is Sandra Brady and I am in the Upper sixth at our Girls Grammar school in the west Midlands. I am studying Maths, Physics and Biology as well as studying art at college on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Our school has a very rigid uniform policy and anything which is considered to flout this will result in the cane without exception. The uniform consists of dark grey skirt, white shirt, grey and maroon tie, maroon blazer, maroon knickers, maroon beret and long grey socks with 2 maroon rings at the top. For PE we wear a maroon leotard which is cut high on the legs. Our games kit is red skirt and knickers and yellow shirt.

Jessica Roberts’ Last Day at School

Last days are traditionally lax, but you can go too far

By Gillian Howard

My name is Jessica Roberts and I was at a mixed grammar school between 1965 and 1972 when I left school. I was 5’3” tall with black hair, green eyes and a slim size 8.

I was best of friends with Julie Hardman, Lisa Malony and Emma Smith, but there were 8 or 9 of us who always hung out together. Corporal punishment was a regular occurrence in the classroom with boys often getting the cane across the bottom and girls the cane across the hands, but a visit to the headmaster always resulted with the cane across the bottom covered only by one layer of clothing. Mary, one of our enlarged group of friends, had been caned by the headmaster twice, and the marks left certainly looked very painful. Emma had received 1 stroke of the cane across each hand in class for persistent talking in class last year.

Agnes Dewhurst’s Ambition

After a girl leaves school, work offers her an opportunity

By Gillian Howard

My name is Agnes Dewhurst and I lived just outside Liverpool in the 1960s. I attended a local mixed secondary modern school and corporal punishment was used on a regular basis in the classrooms. All teachers would use the cane across the bottom or sometimes in the first year you would get smacked instead.

I myself faced this in my very first term when I was caught cheating and Mr Roberts called me out. He was sat in his chair and he pulled me across his chest and lifted my skirt. Then he really smacked the top of my right thigh till I was screaming in pain and embarrassment. All the class could see my knickers and he warned me next time it would be the cane.

Alice Woodward ‘s Caning

If a girl is suspected of breaking school rules, there needn’t be a long and careful investigation.

By Gillian Howard

My name is Alice Woodward and I attended a mixed Grammar school in 1968 to 1974. Corporal punishment was a regular sight, with boys and girls being spanked and getting the slipper in class. The headmaster also gave the slipper over underpants or knickers only. He would also, on rare occasions, also cane both boys and girls in the same way.

I, along with my 3 closest friends Sylvia, Linda and Amy, had never been punished apart from when all the class got two with the slipper in the second year when we were making a noise as our teacher was late arriving. Overall, more than half the girls had been given the slipper in class as well as the class punishment, but all the boys had been given the slipper in class and most had visited the headmaster for the cane or slipper. Of the girls, 10 had visited the Headmaster; 7 got 6 with the slipper over their knickers and 3 got 6 with the cane.

Gaynor Travis Gets Caned

A girl has to change school where a different regime applies

By Gillian Howard

My name is Gaynor Travis and in 1967, when I was 17 years old, I had just started my upper 6th studies at a strict Catholic all girls grammar school. I had always been a model pupil, never having been in trouble, but I then was in a car driven by my boyfriend’s brother and it was involved in a traffic accident. I was in a coma for 7 weeks but was unfit to return to school till Easter.

I remembered nothing till I came to after the coma and was told what had happened.  The driver of the other vehicle had suffered fatal injuries. About a week after I came around, I was moved out of intensive care and mum came to see me looking very upset. She told me that after the accident It was touch and go if I would survive and then on the third day they arrived to be told I had lost the baby I was expecting. I was in total shock as I did not know I was pregnant, or if I did could not remember it.
